FT Leadoff

NL WC Chaos, AL Bracket Set, Manager Moves

The Mets and Braves will play in a doubleheader today to determine the final two NL Wild Card spots.

Spencer Schwellenbach gets the nod for Atlanta in game one, while Tylor Megill will take the mound for New York. Atlanta is coming off a series win against the Royals, opposite of New York, who just dropped two of three in Milwaukee.

We’ll unpack the NL playoff scenarios and deliver coverage of crucial games throughout the FT Network. Look out for a bonus FT Live postgame show after game two!

The stage is set in the American League.

Baltimore hosts Kansas City in one of the two American League Wild Card matchups. Corbin Burnes and Cole Ragans will square off in Game 1, while Seth Lugo gets the nod in Game 2. The O’s have yet to announce a starter for Wednesday.

Don’t sleep on the other AL Wild Card matchup. Former Astros manager AJ Hinch takes his young Tigers squad down to Houston to face the team he won a World Series with in 2017.

The winner of Kansas City-Baltimore will battle the Yankees, while the Guardians will face whichever team emerges victorious in Houston.
