AL Wild Card Taking Shape, Goodbye Oakland, Yanks & Dodgers Clinch Divisions

The AL Wild Card is basically a done deal, and what a surprise we have.

The Tigers and Royals both won on Thursday and head into the last weekend of the regular season tied with a hold on the final two AL Wild Card spots.

After both teams won on Thursday, the Tigers and Royals will head into the last weekend of the regular season tied for the final two AL Wild Card spots.

Detroit took down the Rays to win their fifth straight and nine of their last ten. Kansas City completed a sweep of the Nationals immediately following a seven-game losing streak.

With a weekend matchup against the historically awful White Sox, the fifth seed might be Detroit’s to lose. Due to a tougher matchup against Atlanta, the Royals appear destined for the sixth seed.

The Twins are technically still alive, but a Thursday loss to the Marlins dropped their elimination number to one. At this point, they need a miracle.

Damn, it’s over.

After 57 seasons, the Athletics played their final game in Oakland. It was a frustrating ending to a years-long saga between villainous owner John Fisher and the fans.

Emotions ran high at the sold-out Coliseum. Some in attendance saw the opportunity to take home unique souvenirs, while others took in the moment.

The criticism of John Fisher continued, as a city that’s already lost two major sports teams in the last five years will lose their last franchise.
