Pete Alonso is back in Queens.
Alonso had multiple offers from the Mets on the table, per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. One of which was a three-year, $71M deal. The other, a two-year, $54M deal with an opt-out, which he took.
"I'm taking the most money possible upfront because I know I'm going to opt out."
@ErikKratz31 explains why Pete Alonso's decision to turn down the Mets three-year offer to him was the right move.

The Rays chances of returning to St. Petersburg could be in jeopardy after Mayor Ken Welch essentially backed them into a corner on Tuesday.
At his State of the City address this week, Welch clarified that the city has alternative options if the Rays walk away from their $1.3B deal to build a new stadium. The city and Pinellas County have already approved $600M, but delays have incurred additional costs that the Rays have stated they can’t handle independently.
According to Front Office Sports, the Rays have until March 31 to meet specific logistical benchmarks that will unlock public funding.
