The Mets hold the best record (13-6) in June, but will likely lose Edwin Díaz to a 10-game suspension after he was ejected for sticky stuff in Sunday’s win over the Cubs.
Edwin Díaz says he uses a mixture of sweat, rosin, and dirt to help grip the ball better.
“I use the same thing, always.”

Díaz said he was “shocked” that the umpires threw him out. When asked if he plans to make any adjustments, he stood firm on using the same mixture.
Díaz becomes the third Mets pitcher to get ejected for sticky stuff in just over a year. Tune in to FT Live today to hear our thoughts.
The Mets still have that Grimace energy after winning their fourth straight series. They’re just one game out of the third Wild Card spot.
Went bird watching. #Relentless

The only things hotter than the Texas heat right now are the two teams that play there.
No American League team had swept the Baltimore Orioles in the regular season since April 2022, but the Astros changed that over the weekend.
Houston outscored the O’s 27-13 in the series and is riding a five-game win streak. They can climb back to .500 if they sweep the Rockies in a quick two-game set on Tuesday and Wednesday.

As for the other Texas team, the defending World Champion Rangers are coming off a sweep of their own against the Royals.
Backed by five innings of shutout ball from Max Scherzer in his season debut on Sunday, they matched their season-long win streak of four games by way of just 99 pitches from the entire staff.
Ironically, it came on the same day Scherzer tied Greg Maddux for eleventh all-time in career strikeouts with 3,371.
