Controversial Ending in Queens, Kwan Plays Hero, Machado Robbed Again, Twins Win Tenth Straight Despite Another Buxton Injury
Excellent view of the relay that ended tonight’s game between the Cubs & Mets.
Do you think this should’ve been called for blocking?

Sure, Shota Imanaga dominated the Mets last night, but that’s not the story coming out of Queens.
The game’s conclusion caused an uproar when replay review confirmed the catcher was clear of blocking the plate on a play that would’ve tied the game had it been overturned.
I obtained images from the memo sent out to managers during spring training on blocking the plate.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza referenced this memo sent out during Spring Training to the media after the game when explaining his argument to the umpires.
Of course, we’ll talk about this today on FT Live!

What’s the difference between Superman and Steven Kwan?
Literally nothing, or at least that’s the conclusion we’ve come to after his all-around spectacular performance in last night’s extra-innings win in Houston.
Steven Kwan says he didn't know where the runner was on the last play of the game, all he knew was that he needed to catch the ball and get it to Gimenez.

Did that look familiar to you?
It probably does to FT’s Adam Jones, who robbed Manny Machado in nearly the same place during the 2017 World Baseball Classic.
Maybe Manny should stop hitting the ball in that direction, at least when he’s playing in San Diego.
"Let's go!" — Umpire Rob Drake hollering at injured Byron Buxton to hustle off the field

At first, this umpire thought Byron Buxton was showing a lack of hustle after getting thrown out trying to steal second base in yesterday’s win over the White Sox.
Turns out, he was walking off slowly because of soreness in his right knee.
No further update from #MNTwins on Byron Buxton other than he's going to have an MRI on his knee. Via a team spokesperson, Buxton declined to comment after the game.

Regardless, the Twins won their 10th in a row and currently reside in *checks notes* FOURTH place in the AL Central, three games back of first.
Yeah, you read that right.
