Imanaga Rookie History, Ohtani Day Turned Weekend, Why No Elly Extension?

Shota Imanaga’s outing on Saturday was nothing short of an efficient masterpiece that left Pirates hitters guessing at the plate.

“He’s going to give hitting coaches nightmares,” said Pirates manager Derek Shelton after Saturday’s game. “The fastball is not 94-95 MPH, but it’s effective. The split is real. It’s strike to ball.”

What a weekend it was for Shohei Ohtani.

On Friday, Los Angeles declared May 17th “Shohei Ohtani Day,” so what did he do? Homered that very night, of course.

Then, on Sunday, he walked it off for the first time in a Dodgers uniform, extending his league-leading multi-hit game total for the year to 23.
