FT Leadoff

Clinch SZN, Amazin' Mets, Tigers ROARBACK!

Before taking the field on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Brewers already knew one thing: The NL Central crown was theirs.

They made the accomplishment even sweeter with a 2-1 walk-off win over the Phillies. A celebratory day caused for bottle popping, unless you’re name is Jackson Chourio.

It’s been an impressive season for a team that’s seen a lot of change. Whether it be losing longtime manager Craig Counsell to the arch-rival Cubs or Christian Yelich to a season-ending injury, the Pat Murphy-led Brewers have proved the doubters wrong.

Milwaukee now sports an 88-64 record, sitting just two games back of the Dodgers for the NL’s second seed with ten games remaining.

There’s something special brewing in Queens.

The Mets, fresh off a sweep of the Nationals, now hold a two-game lead over the Braves for the final NL Wild Card spot.

Newbie Luisangel Acuña has been on FIRE subbing in for Francisco Lindor, who’s been temporarily sidelined with a lower back injury. Acuña has homered in two straight games and is 5-for-8 in that span.

The Mets might get even stronger soon. Kodai Senga hopes to make a one-inning rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse this weekend to see if he can return to the Major Leagues next week.
